چکیده

Cellulose micro/nanofibril (CMNF) as a reinforcing material for composites is becoming more and more attractive to researchers in composite science because of its potential lightweight and high strength. CMNF is generally prepared by either physical treatment, e.g., by a high pressure homogenizer and/or high pressure refiner, or chemical treatments, e.g., acid hydrolysis. In this study, attempts have been made to produce CMNF from regenerated cellulose fiber (Lyocell) by a novel process. The geometrical characteristics of the CMNF were investigated using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and their crystalline structure was investigated by wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD). CMNFreinforced polypropylene nanocomposites were prepared by a new method combined a filtration system with a compressive molding. Their properties were evaluated by tensile test and their morphological characteristics of the fracture cross section were investigated with SEM.

Paper-based vapor detection of hydrogen peroxide: colorimetric sensing with tunable interface.

Vapor detection of hydrogen peroxide still remains challenging for conventional sensing techniques, though such vapor detection implies important applications in various practical areas, including locating IEDs. We report herein a new colorimetric sensor system that can detect hydrogen peroxide vapor down to parts per billion level. The sensory materials are based on the cellulose microfibril n...

The jiaoyao1 Mutant Is an Allele of korrigan1 That Abolishes Endoglucanase Activity and Affects the Organization of Both Cellulose Microfibrils and Microtubules in Arabidopsis.

In higher plants, cellulose is synthesized by plasma membrane-localized cellulose synthase complexes (CSCs). Arabidopsis thaliana GH9A1/KORRIGAN1 is a membrane-bound, family 9 glycosyl hydrolase that is important for cellulose synthesis in both primary and secondary cell walls. Most previously identified korrigan1 mutants show severe phenotypes such as embryo lethality; therefore, the role of G...

Comparative Structural and Computational Analysis Supports Eighteen Cellulose Synthases in the Plant Cellulose Synthesis Complex

A six-lobed membrane spanning cellulose synthesis complex (CSC) containing multiple cellulose synthase (CESA) glycosyltransferases mediates cellulose microfibril formation. The number of CESAs in the CSC has been debated for decades in light of changing estimates of the diameter of the smallest microfibril formed from the β-1,4 glucan chains synthesized by one CSC. We obtained more direct evide...

High-performance green flexible electronics based on biodegradable cellulose nanofibril paper

Today's consumer electronics, such as cell phones, tablets and other portable electronic devices, are typically made of non-renewable, non-biodegradable, and sometimes potentially toxic (for example, gallium arsenide) materials. These consumer electronics are frequently upgraded or discarded, leading to serious environmental contamination. Thus, electronic systems consisting of renewable and bi...
